Reflections Suite - 12.24.2008

I have composed a 4-movement piece called Reflections for 2 pianos, Sting Sextet and Vibraphone. (!!) This year I have done a lot of chamber music for various projects I have been asked to work on - this however is a 4 movement piece that I have been working on the last week or 2 under my own volition so I thought I would post it up to share over the festive period.

He Shoots - He Scores - 08.28.2008

Following my slightly negative article on rubbish theme tunes I thought I should balance this out a little with some props out to Jonny Greenwood for There Will Be Blood, and James Newton Howard for Michael Clayton.

I absolutely love Greenwood’s work on There Will Be Blood which I read is made of works he recorded for the BBC based on the music on Pederecki. Well worth a listen and the most original score I have heard for a long long time!

And its not like all tv themes are bad - I love the new channel 5 cricket theme! Samit Patel et al being given the chance to shine!!

The Adventures of Gutterboy - 07.01.2008

I’ve been commissioned to work on an OST: the film is to be called “The Adventures of Gutterboy” about an anti-hero type that lives in the sewers underneath a futuristic-victorian pseudo-London. The commission comes from a London based company called The Painting Practice whose previous credits include Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy and the upcoming Bond film Quantum of Solace, though this is their first in-house creative project. More to follow….
